A Look at Architectural Drafting

It is necessary for architects, contractors and engineers to have the correct representations and blueprint in order to build excellent homes and commercial structures. We convert architectural drawing into any kink of CAD format. Architectural blueprint of any type can be adapted into its CAD format through our expertise. This is both for the 3D and 2D versions. In the case of 2D, we are able to present very precise area measurements in color. We also present clear information about the fixtures and furniture. Further more we enhance the shading and texture of the visualization. However we are flexible and can adapt to our clients' specific demands.

It is possible to get a very comprehensive idea when the presentation is in 3D format. To enable our clients to get the true effect, we present both day and night perspectives. In addition the images are designed in such a way that they appear in real time basis.
We follow various methods and use varied items to do our work. In addition the landscaping and enhancement tools give the images an authentic look. Elaborate specifications in the manner the structure will ultimately shape up is provided by us with the setting in the background clearly shown.

When it comes to old sketches, we are capable of adapting both hand and the scanned ones into the CAD format. The blueprint is made by us recognizing the rules of each country. Even as we stick to the usual information particulars, we will be able to give the required details of every room.

Customers can have total peace of mind that the roofing blueprint will be provided in both the 2D and 3D formats. We do this in full conformation to the desire of the customer. The elevation blueprint is prepared keeping in view the severe rules specific to the country and according to the wish of the customer.

The finer aspects of the interiors are represented with drawings that include the lighting as well as furniture placements. The landscaping details will include arrangements for plantations and other components like benches and dustbins. Any changes in the basic ground situation will be shown in the form of a comprehensive document. This is done to ensure that the drawings are as close to how the project will actually pan out and is done keeping the customer's specific directions in perspective.

Advantages of Architectural Shingles

During the last 20 years there have been many advances in asphalt roofing shingle technology. One of the best advances is the architectural shingle. Also referred to as a dimensional shingle because of it's dimensional appearance, these shingles continue to evolve as an enticing and cost-effective solution for homeowners.

Looks
Architectural shingles provide a home with a more customized and stunning appearance because of their shape and depth. Although they are asphalt shingles they have the appearance of other roofing materials. Two of the more popular styles are slate and shake shingles. When slate style asphalt shingles are installed they provide the look of simple elegance found in a slate roof with all of the practical advantages of asphalt.
Similarly, when shake style shingles are used, the rustic and sophisticated look of wood shakes is combined with asphalt shingle performance.
Durability
Performance is actually another important reason to consider using architectural shingles. These shingles are constructed differently than standard 3 tab shingles and can be counted on to deliver greater longevity. Standard 3 tab shingles are made with a single layer of material on top of a glass mat, while architectural shingles are manufactured using multiple layers of material, granules and asphalt. Because they contain multiple layers, architectural shingles are heavier, so they place more weight on the roof.  The multi-layer construction also makes them more durable so they last longer, meaning most architectural shingles carry a longer warranty.
They also deliver higher wind resistance, some up to 130 mph.
Cost
Finally, there are actually some cost advantages to using architectural shingles. In most cases the price of the shingles per square is actually more expensive than 3 tab shingles by 20-30%. When considered relative to other factors, the additional value that architectural shingles bring to the homeowner may actually result in lower cost of ownership. When you factor in that architectural shingles carry a longer warranty, keep their appearance longer and wear less, this could mean they pay for themselves in less re-roofing over time.

Sherriff-Goslin Company recommends architectural shingles to many of their Indiana, Ohio and Michigan roof installation customers because they are a cost-effective performance solution which greatly enhances the beauty of the home. Art-Loc® Shingles, Sherriff-Goslin's own brand, is a popular choice among homeowners. The interlocking style is unique, durable and efficient. In addition to Art-Loc® Sherriff-Goslin also recommends the new Pristine Architectural Shingle line from Atlas Roofing™. Pristine Shingles featuring Scotchgard Protector not only deliver all the advantages of durability and great appearance found in an architectural shingle, but come with a Limited Lifetime Warranty against algae stains and streaks.

Neoclasscial Architecture

The Neoclassical architectural style came to be in the mid 18th century in Spain and Poland, and was heavily influenced by classical Greek architecture as well as by Italian architect Andrea Palladino. Many of the details of the style can be compared to the Rococo style as well as the Late Baroque, but they are different, and understanding the key distinctions is vital. One of the biggest differences between the Neoclassical style and the classic Greek style is that the Neoclassical style of architecture focuses more on the walls, where the Greek prided themselves on their proficiency in chiaroscuro. Some historians go even further to suggest that this style came about so that architects could embrace the sensitivity of ancient Rome combined with ancient Greek.

Most arhcitectural eras hit various parts of the world at different times -- the spread was staggered, sometimes never reaching certain areas.
But this architectural style was a worldwide phenomenon that occurred at more or less the same time throughout the globe, rather than eventually spreading to the United States and Europe.  Many people don't see the distinctions between the High Neoclassical style and the Late Baroque, as they tend to have the same terms associated with them -- it's very easy to mix them up because they look so similar. But the High Neoclassical style tends to have more planar qualities than sculptured ones.  All aspects of the former are flatter depth-wise, especially the bas-reliefs.  Where these may be built directly into the wall in a Late Baroque sculpture, they were more often framed in panels, tablets, or friezes in a High Neoclassical one. These specific dinstincitions are key in identifying the style.

Buildings portraying this style can be found all over the globe but some are more popular than others, in the ranks of famous buildings, such as The Old Museum in Berlin, one of Karl Friedrich Schinkel's projects. Sir John Soane's Bank of England in London is a popular European example. There are two extremely famous ones in the United States as well; the White House and the Capitol, both in Washington, D.C.

Architectural Domes - Beyond the Sphere

Domes are commonly defined as features that are shaped like the upper half of a sphere. Throughout the years, designers have implemented their own changes and variations to the classic dome design, making the appearance of architectural domes more varied and diverse. This article will describe a few of the more common types of architectural domes that consist of more than just a hollow half sphere.

Coffered Domes

These types of interior domes are characterized by their overlaid web of crossed supports. When these are arranged properly, a series of recessed areas called coffers is the result. The coffers of these architectural domes are usually shaped like squares, rectangles, or octagons. These interior domes may be highly ornamented; some even feature stained glass coffers. Many, though, are simple in terms of their color and design.
Whatever their appearance, the varied texture of these architectural domes always provides variety to building interiors. Undoubtedly the most famous coffered dome is the one found in the Pantheon in Rome.
Cupolas

Cupolas are exterior domes that are used to crown roofs, churches, bell towers, or larger domes. Derived from the Latin word for small cup, cupolas have a number of features that set them apart from other types of architectural domes. These specialized exterior domes are often illuminated, serving as a beacon of sorts when placed on top of churches and hotels. In some cases, cupolas contain windows make of traditional or stained glass. Some owners of hotels and resorts also make these exterior domes accessible to guests since the location of cupolas often provides breathtaking panoramic views.

Onion Domes

Eye catching and often brightly colored, these exterior domes generally taper to a point, resembling the food after which they are named.
These bulbous exterior domes are often part of the design of Orthodox churches, and appear frequently in Russian, Indian, and Arabic architecture. India's awe inspiring Taj Mahal features a massive onion dome that serves as the building's focal point.
Interior Domes

Exterior domes must be strong, but the sole purpose of interior domes is to make indoor spaces more attractive. Therefore, the beauty of these types of architectural domes is always the main concern. Interior domes can feature the classic half-sphere design, but they can also be rectangular, oval, octagonal, or virtually any other shape. Some interior domes are crafted of stained or translucent glass, many are embellished with abstract patterns or paintings, and others are adorned with rosettes and architectural medallions, which provide color and texture to otherwise plain interior domes.

Greetings dear bloggers! Hope all is well and you've been having a lovely spring.

I haven't posted in a bit (as usual). So sorry about that. Time, life, procrastination, what can i say? Mostly, I feel like I should post something helpful in a problem solving sense, or, useful in a tutorial sense. Well my darlings, today is not one of those posts lol, but I promise, loads of fabulous photos.

Starting around the age of 5, one of my favorite past-times was to sneak into my mother's stash of shelter magazines (of which she had many), and while away many hours absorbing each and every delightful page. I was more interested in decorating Barbie's house instead of playing with the doll. Though I must confess, fashion magazines ran a close 2nd.

Anyway, after oodles of delightful hours and years and years of pouring over shelter magazines, "my style" developed into a very broad and diverse range. It is what's generally defined as "eclectic". Always makes me wince a bit to hear or say that word..."ecelectic".

Personally, I like to think of my style as...timeless. I am passionate about pieces that have a timelessness about them. That wonderful quality that blends seamlessly with a broad range of styles.

Today I am sharing my passion for one that was previously thought of as modern or art deco, and now, blends well in any decor style. Being more versitle than in the past, they can stand on their own, or add funtion without adding visual clutter.

Did you notice the acrylic end tables? No? look again.

As I said, almost invisible but adding function.

Acrylic furnishings can also command center stage...

Jamie Drake Designs

love, love, love that desk!

Some call it Lucite and others Plexiglass. In truth, those are trademarked names and both are acrylic. Today, manufacturers offer many new designs and even a wide array of colors, as in these Louis XV Ghost chairs by Kartell ...

Or offer color via upholstery, as in these Bella chairs by Spectrum-Ltd

A recent obsession is over this Lucite cube from anthropologie....

Charming...yes? Unfortunately, no longer available. Here is a pair used in a more traditional living room grouping.

Again, they add function without clutter or distraction, yet such an integral piece in pulling the design together.

On a larger scale, this trunk by Serge de Troyer is so fabulous and expensive ($2,950.00)!

Not only does it holds it's own atop this black and white chevron rug, it adds that "je ne sais quoi" to the decor.

There is a less expensive 24"x24"x16" trunk offered by Plexi-Craft for around $396.00 with brass hardware or spend an additional $50.00 for chrome. They also offer custom sizes for an additional price; and monogramming.

Imagine that fabulous trunk in a more shabby/romantic setting displaying a vintage quilt collection (whilst adding additional storage...win win!).

While we are on the subject of a more soft, romantic, sophisticated feel, how about this charming table and chair pairing (I'm imagining the walls the palest of pink)...

The chair is the George II by Plexi-Craft, I adore the tuffted seat. Did you notice the scalloped apron of the table?

Here is a closer look at one...

So sweet and charming! I crave that table!

The next two photos probably look very familar to you as this bedroom been all over the blogosphere and web. It's one of my most favorite bedrooms!

Phoebe Howard Designs

Pink perfection personified!

Did you know that bedroom has a sitting area?

So charming! Mrs. Howard used the Lucite coffee table to seamlessly blend in. It adds such glam and shine without clutter or distraction, so brilliant! (pun included lol)

Here are a few other examples that have been added to my inspiration file (and my pinterest!)

Last but not least, this darling swivel acrylic chair...

The next time you have a "problem" space, perhaps an acrylic piece will give your decor that "je ne sais quois" you've been seeking! Then of course, you'll have rendered this post to being informative, inspirational, and helpful! *cheeky grin*

I hope you have enjoyed your visit and thank you for taking the time to leave me your sweet thoughts and comments!

Be well!

Cheers!

Using Architectural Mailboxes

Mailboxes that blend into the exterior of a business or a home are very practical. Having a mail drop that is incorporated into the structure of the building is not only stylish but it also provides a level of security. These types of holders are available in different styles and varieties and can be purchased locally from retailers.

There are a number of reasons why people and businesses choose to use postal receptacles that can be adhered to the foundation of a property. One of the main reasons is for security purposes. Having a container to hold postal items that is attached to the foundation of a building ensures that the carrier will place items near the home. Likewise, individuals do not have to worry as much about people invading their privacy by going through their mailbox as with those post holders placed separately from the home or business.

Convenience is a factor that influences people's decision to choose letter drops.
Most homeowners and businesses prefer to be able to access their post without trekking down a long driveway. Investing in an architectural mailboxesallow users to have access to their items quickly, easily and conveniently. It is recommended option for anyone looking to have better access to their postal goods.
Mailboxes that are attached to the foundation of a building are also preferred because they are available in so many different styles and varieties to suit the needs of the homeowner or business. Perfect examples are the locking mailboxes. These are great for locations with numerous individuals. Many business suites and apartment complexes have these types of post holders mounted to a wall near the entryway. The postal carrier possesses a key for each mailbox and each tenant of a building possesses the key for their applicable drop.
These provide extra security and ensure that everyone's post remains secure and private.
Homeowners may choose to select postal receptacles that are decorative. These holders can be made from different materials such as metal, wood, plastic or resin. The styles of the receptacles range from the very simple to the outlandish. There are even letter drops that are custom made to resemble any item that a person desires. Covers that can be stretched over the mail container are also available and they come in a different colors and themes.

The structural composition of a mailbox can differ. Most of them will include a hinged top that can be opened and closed. Some may be built with slots where the items can be placed. It is best to choose letter drops that are made from materials that will withstand all types of weather. This will ensure that the items within the holder remain dry.

Choosing a letter drop that can be easily installed on the side of one's home or business is important. Many buildings are made from hard materials such as brick. It is wise to shop around for mailboxes that can be simply attached to the exterior of property based on the type of material that the building is made from.

Consumers should shop around to find the letter boxes that will suit the exterior of their home or business. The style of the mail drop should fit in nicely with the rest of the property. In addition, mail holder used should offer both security and convenience.

Sales Funnel Architecture

Driving traffic to their website and enhancing their business opportunities is one of the main aims of online retailers. The website must be well organized and powerful enough to retain and hold the attention of visitors visiting the website. The site must guide visitors gently but firmly into the sales funnel. The better the understanding of web architecture and the sales funnel the more likely you will to increase your sales.

The sales funnel is the pathway your visitor travels on the road to make a purchase.

The Home Page or Landing Page is where your visitors first land on your site. It is important to ensure that the page is full of content that is about the particular keywords your visitor searched for before being sent to your site. This will reduce the bounce rate i.e. the number of readers moving away from the site after going through the landing page. Include an effective call to action step that skilfully navigates the reader to a category or product page.

Visitors are subdivided into a selling segment in the category page. For instance visitors who reach your page searching for tennis racquets may click on other categories such as comedy horror drama or romance. Visitors searching for specific information and who are prepared to buy are the most likely to use the category page. For example a visitor who visits your landing page may click on large electronic goods. This page will lead them to the products page where he may click and navigate to the page on television DVD players or computers product page.

Add attractive pictures of products on product pages. If possible include powerful media attributes such as zoom coloration and 3D viewing. It is also essential to describe the products in detail and list benefits. Users should be moved to add the item to the cart.

The next step in the sales funnel architecture is the shopping cart. Various options must be provided in the shopping cart such as change quantities look at contents calculate shipping and handling and visualizing products. Use effective words such as proceed to checkout or add another item as a call to action.

The next stage is the check out page. This page should include methods to gather the information required for billing and shipping the product. Online retailers should incorporated user friendly features that allow visitors to move back through the entire shopping process without having to re-enter information on the checkout page except of course the credit card info. From the check out page the sales funnel architecture must lead customers to confirmation page.

The confirmation page completes and wraps the order. Here it is important for retailers to provide information on special offers and urge the customer to return to the site. These special offers can be formulated exclusively for those who have shopped on the website for a certain amount.
Crafting the most streamlined and powerful sales funnel architecture will ensure maximum conversion rate.

Web Content Architecture

Success Series #5 - Content Architecture

Green Host It recognizes that our success depends on your success so, as part of our core corporate culture, we provide all the tools you need to build, launch and manage a successful web-based business – including the information you need to do it RIGHT!

So welcome to the fifth in our series of "how-to" articles on topics related to web success. We'll keep it simple, eliminate the techno-babble and provide, not only the tools, but the know-how to achieve web success.

Your success is our success.

#5 What Is Content Architecture?

Pretty simple, at least in theory. Content architecture is how you arrange the different types of content within the totality of your web site.
Sounds easy enough but get it wrong a KABLOOEY! There goes your vision of web site success.
In our last piece, we discussed web site navigation. Navigation does a couple of things: (1) it directs visitors to the specific information they're looking for (a real time-saver) and (2) it creates a hierarchy of information – a rank of what you (the site owner) consider the most important text, the next most important text, right on down the line.

So, by definition, the most important web site content appears on the navigation bar as separate links to different zones of the site. By clicking on one of these primary links, visitors know they're going to learn about A or B or even C.

Types of Site Content

There are three basic types of web site text used by almost every well-designed, successful web site:

the appeal (including sales copy, order information, etc.)
informational content (a good will builder and search engine spiders love straight up informational copy)
informational copy used as sell copy (a hybrid that provides practical information but is ultimately designed to push the visitor to perform the most desired action.) Typically, this hybrid type of content provides just enough solid information to equip the reader to determine that he needs help. Call the web site owner. Call you!
Contact information is critical.
Most web sites (pre-'08) use a single "Contact" or Contact Us" link off the home page navigation bar, placing contact as a high priority, de facto. However, why limit contact information to a single page. You never know when or what is going to flip the switch and convert a visitor to a buyer, so make it easy for them to contact you. Provide contact information on every page. (This is also essential for local search through search engines.)

What Web Site Content Goes Where?

You never know who's going to show up at your digital doorway. It could be a third-time visitor ready to make that purchase or it could be a first-time visitor just doing a little comparison shopping.

So, let's start with the home page – the first page visitors often see. Think of it as the front door to your web site. Therefore, it should be :

welcoming
comprehensible
simple (real simple; one recently viewed web site had 19 links off the home page, requiring site visitors to decide among 19 options. Too complicated.)
informational (if all they see is page after page of hype, like a Glazier-Kennedy long-form sales letter, a lot of visitors are going to bounce.)
client-centric (it's not about you; it's always about the visitor. What can you do for her? How does your web business meet his objectives. Take yourself and your site objectives out of all content. It's never about you.)
curious (good site text piques the curiosity of the site visitor and pulls her deeper into the web site)
Landing Pages

Any page of your web site (there are exceptions, i.e. search engines don't index "contact pages" as a rule) can be the first page a visitor sees, so consider each landing page a mini-home page.

Landing pages are often the first pages visitors see when they click on a navigation tab. Ask you programmer to add HTMLtags with relevant keywords to each landing page within your site. These pages will be spidered and will appear in search engine results page.

They also create more doorways to your web site.

Content Hierarchy

Even elephantine search engines have limited resources. Even Google gets so much bandwidth to access and index millions of web sites daily. So, the placement of certain content in upper-tier locations "tells" visitors AND search engine bots that this is important.

Submit a site map to the major search engines inviting them to visit your site and see all of that wonderful information content on your site blog. Search engines are designed to deliver the most relevant results to their users, so good, solid informational content (like this content) makes a web site look good to search engines. And to humans.
Create a flow chart that shows where each piece of content goes. Your home page might contain the strongest sales pitch, listing visitor benefits and freebies in bullet lists for easy scanning.
Include an on-site blog to update content easily. (No programming required. Blogs use WYSIWYG editors making uploads a breeze.) Make sure to link the blog off the home page and all interior landing pages.
Avoid squeeze pages. SEOs disagree on this one but you think about it. A squeeze page is often the first page a visitor sees. It contains an opt-in module that requires site visitors to submit an email address to gain access to a site – often without knowing what they're opting in for.
Why create a stumbling block by requiring visitors to log in before they even get to page one of your web site. It doesn't make any sense.
Use embedded text links to pull visitors deeper into the site. The main text, often informational, is used as bait to pull the visitor deeper into the site. It's simply another means of navigation to take visitors where they want to go fast.
It's not just what you say, it's where you say it. For example, place a strong call to action on the Contact" page even though this page will never be indexed by a search engine. Why? Because if you got a visitor to click on the ‘Contact Us" page, you're half-way to converting that visitor to a buyer of your products or services.

So, by placing a strong call to action on the contact page, listing benefits and every means of contact you can think of (including telepathic), the visitor is more inclined to reach out to contact you – even if it's just to answer a question.

You start with a flow chart or three-stage outline to create a content architecture that provides a little well-placed sizzle and a whole lot of informational content.

Fresh content, too. Bots like it and so do repeat visitors.

How you position site content is just as important as what that content says. So, before you even start planning the structure of your web site, plan the content architecture and build the site around your content.  Choose a green hosting provider to demonstrate your company's responsibility.

On the world wide web, words say it all.

Eastlake Architecture

The Eastlake architectural style can be found all over the world, although it originated in New England in the late 1800′s.  While it is commonly lumped in with the Victorian architectural style, that is not entirely true. While the Eastlake style came to popularity while the Victorian era was still ending, it has many more unique qualities to it that set it apart from Queen Anne. The primary components of the Eastlake architectural style are clean lines and geometric shapes.  Mass production was gaining in popularity, and as the Victorian era was ending, technological advances made it possible to duplicate these products on a much larger scale, reaching thousands as opposed to hundreds.

The Eastlake style is extremely popular in metal accents, especially with drawers, cabinets, and door hinges.
Many of the artists that made this style famous were prone to add decoration and direction to even the most mundane and overlooked pieces, and turned them all into works of art.  Where others failed to add any sort of adornment, Eastlake artisans flourished and took advantage of the blank canvas and made it their own.
A particular example is a cup pull with label holder, and was found in offices everywhere.  It took an otherwise bland piece of furniture like a filing cabinet, and turned it into a piece that commanded attention by anyone in the room. It's functionality made it even more sought after, and they still are today.  It is an extremely durable piece because of its solid brass construction, which also makes it quite heavy.

This piece is small, and measures less than 5″ high and just over 2″ tall.
All you need is to print out a label, or if that is not available, all you need is a scrap piece of paper and you'll have an instant label!  This piece is available in the popular finishes for it's time: Polished Brass, Antique Brass, and Oil Rubbed Bronze.  These three can be found on almost any piece of antique hardware, as well as many modern pieces.  LookInTheAttic also includes a pair of mounting screws in the same finish.

Essay: Data Warehouse Architecture

Sample Essay

Meta Data

In order to support universal data access, it is important maintain a data dictionary or information about the stored data itself. This is known as Meta data. The provision of meta data allows the end-users to access the store data without any prior information about the where the data is located and how it is stored. For example, if the user wishes to access data related to sales, than the system will find out what sales refers to and where the data is stored by access the information stored in the meta data layer of the data warehouse, access the stored data and display it to the user (Humphries, Hawkins and Dy 1999).

Process Management Layer

The use of Process Management lays is in scheduling of various tasks that are required to create and maintain data warehouse as well as meta data for its storage.

Application Messaging Layer

The application messaging layer acts as a transportation system in the data warehouse.
This layer contains much more than networking protocols. For example, it can be used to collection business transaction as well as messages and deliver them to specified locations at specified time.
Data Warehouse Layer

The Data Warehouse layer is the place where the actual data that is use for informational purposes is stored. This layer can also be defined to provide a logical or virtual view of the data that it stores. This lays stores the copies of external as well as operational databases in a form that is easy to access and highly flexible.

Data Staging layer

The final layer in the architecture of a data warehouse is the data staging layer.
This layer comprises of the processes which are used to select, edit, summarize and load data warehouse as well as information access data from operational or external databases. Previously, this layer was the jumbled up with complex programming done to perform functions of this layer, however, it has been simplified through the availability of commercially available customized software. This layer may also hold applications which are used to identify patterns in the data is the stored or processes regularly (Ponniah 2001).
